Led by Coach Zoe Sayetta β veteran youth sport coach, US Youth National Team staff member, and mental performance specialist β youβll gain the science-backed principles, practical strategies, and ready-to-use programming templates to help your athletes peak when it matters most.
This 5-hour intensive will guide you through two key parts:
Part I β Foundations
Youβll learn the physical principles that underpin elite climbing performance β and how to adapt them for a packed competitive calendar.
Season Demands & Structure β Understand the 20-week qualifying season and how to train around ~3 comps/month.
Managing Fatigue & Recovery β Why recovery-focused microcycles are key for frequent peaks.
Discipline-Specific Needs β Bouldering (explosive power & precision) vs. Lead (endurance & pacing) and how to balance both.
Strength & Power Progression β Why strength comes first, then power, and how neural & peripheral adaptations develop in youth athletes.
Isometric Training β Overcoming vs. yielding isometrics for tendon strength, endurance, and injury resilience.
Step-by-Step Performance Build β Max strength β power β comp-intensity sessions.
Capacity Development β Building the ability to sustain physical and mental effort across rounds and the whole season.
Part II β Periodization

Seasonal Periodization Models β Linear, block, undulating, and autoregulated approaches.
Programming Around Comps β Short training βsprints,β deloads, and novel stimuli to keep athletes fresh.
